Body found on Covington Co. roadside is that of Greenville man | Crime
COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) - Covington County and Alabama Bureau of Investigation officials are investigating a murder near Andalusia after a man's body was found in an open field.
The victim has since been identified as48-year-old Donnie Earl Bone of Greenville. Bone was shot in the back of the head and his body left in the field off Old Dragstrip Road and Airport Road near Andalusia.
Bone's body was found by the landowner, a hog hunter, around 7:30pm Thursday. A "person of interest" is being interviewed, but no official suspect has been identified at this point. The motive for Bone's death is unknown
Bone worked in the scrap metal business, and witnesses told deputies they saw him and the owner of a business on Airport Road leave together Thursday afternoon.
Investigators found the victim's pickup truck parked on the business owner's property Friday. The truck will be transported to ABI offices where it will be processed for evidence.
This is the second homicide of 2012 in Covington County.
