Fmr. veterinarian employee pleads guilty | Crime
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Covington County woman accused of stealing from the Opp Veterinary Hospital where she once worked as a secretary and office manager was convicted of the crimes against her Wednesday.
Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange's office said Julie Blair Calhoun, 38, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft of property, a class C felony. She was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay full restitution in the amount of $39,736.
Calhoun had been secretary and office manager of the Opp Veterinary Hospital, a private animal hospital where she stole from her employer by manipulating the computer accounting and transaction records.
According to prosecutors, Calhoun stole approximately $39,736 from the clinic during a period that began in 2005 and lasted until 2007, when she was fired.
